July 27, 2007 at 10:26amWhat is the post modern emerging church movement?I am looking for people who are interested in discussing news ways of having or doing church. I would like to share thoughts, experiences and ideas for alternative ways of seeking the living God together. Please considering joining our group. All are welcome!
Look at the profile page on the right side and see the answer to this question. Are our churches like this today? Is this new movement got the answers or just more questions? What can we learn from it? I believe quite a lot. Asking questions is good. If we have the whole truth it won't shake us up. If we are missing part of the church than we may even learn something. July 30, 2007 at 10:29amRE: What is the post modern emerging church movement? In addition to the welcoming, loving, non-judgmental and accepting of all walks of life attmosphere that I know already exists there, I'd like to see and here songs that are a little fresher. I like some of the songs and I love Paula's song but I'd love to see a move away from some of the old religious jargon. The same awesome messages but in contemporary words. There are newer ways that can be related to better to say things like holy, righteous, transgressions, sins and better ways to express our love for Father. I love some of the Native American expressions of Him like Great Mystery and the way they express such reverence for all of His Creation. I believe He is a mystery and we who seek him are His mystics. The fact that we can't put Him in a box and figure Him completely out is part of the reason why He is so awesome. I know you believe that too and I'm not complaining but we can still be Vineyard without necessarily singing all of their songs just like the rest of them do. Paula's song is really moving and inspiring but it was rejected by one of the main Vineyard "dudes". I say right on, Paula, we have to keep some of our sixties and seventies rebel attitudes! I love the idea of being a mystic and that we can learn from other cultures like the Native American culture. We do want to keep putting Him into our box so we can understand Him, control Him, and take Him where we want Him to go. In fact, He isn't looking for us to understand Him as much as He wants us to know Him, kind of like the Bible sense of knowing someone, very intimate. He was to control us (in a good way according to His will) and to take us where He wants us to go.
For those in the forum who don't know who Paula is, she leads worship in the Monroe Vineyard Church. The new church has new styles of worship but can retain old styles not to throw the baby out with the bath water!
Good sharing Debbie. Edited August 4, 2007 at 06:03pm by Vic Holtz
