Golf Events
The Club offers a full tournament schedule beginning with our traditional “Opening Day” in late April and concluding with “Closing Day” in early October. These two events ceremoniously open and conclude the tournament season, however, play does continue year round as conditions allow. In between, there are tournaments and events for everyone - serious players, high handicappers, couples, seniors, juniors, ladies and families. The premier events each season are the Men’s and Women’s Invitational, the Member-Member Championship, the Grosvenor Cup Matches, and the Men’s and Women’s Club Championships. In addition to pride and trophies, the winners of most events receive credit to be spent in the golf shop!

Other programs include weekly men’s and women’s groups and the Weekend Tournament Series sponsored each year by a major equipment manufacturer.

Whether you’re a beginner or a veteran of the game, Monroe Golf and Country Club offers everything you’ll want in a golf facility. If you’re just getting started, we’ll get you outfitted with everything you’ll need and help you learn how to play this wonderful game. If you’re an experienced player, we’ll help you fine-tune your game, test your competitive skills, and keep you updated on the latest technology in golf equipment. As a part of the Club family, you’ll enjoy the game in a variety of ways.

Junior golfers receive instruction on all aspects of the game, including swing and short game fundamentals, course management, rules of golf and etiquette. Juniors also get to play golf every week on Friday mornings, divided into groups based on age and ability and supervised by dozens of parents.

Add a bucket of toys and let the fun begin!

Swimming lessons are offered for all age levels. Our pool facility is open Memorial Weekend through Labor Day.

Golf Facilities
THE COURSE ~

  • Originally designed by world renowned architect, Donald Ross, in 1919, MGCC’s golf course is challenging, yet enjoyable for golfers of all ages and abilities. Typical Ross features - narrow fairways, undulating greens and demanding bunkers - mark the rolling landscape. At 6400 yards, the biggest challenge comes from navigating the hundreds of mature trees lining each fairway, as well as water hazards that come into play on nine of the eighteen holes.

In 2004, Michigan golf course architect, Jerry Mathews, helped the Club with a minor re-design to coincide with the installation of a new, state-of-the-art irrigation system. Changes included: Improving the routing of the first hole; adding or rebuilding tee complexes on numerous holes; adding a new par 3 (hole #6), in a wooded area on the north side of the property; and re-routing hole nine around two irrigation ponds to a new green complex.
Monroe Golf and Country Club has hosted numerous Golf Association of Michigan events, including the Michigan Women’s Amateur Championship and qualifying for the Michigan Men’s Amateur Championship. The Club also plays host to area high schools each Fall for the Monroe County Boy’s Golf Championship.

Practice Facilities ~

  • A well maintained practice tee is available for all members to enjoy from early morning to late evening daily. The putting green, centrally located near the pool/patio/clubhouse area, is a large, gently sloping surface that is maintained to the high standards of all of the course’s greens. In addition, members have access to two outstanding short game practice areas to fine tune their chipping, pitching and bunker skills.

Golf Instruction ~

  • A Staff of PGA professionals and apprentices offers group, private and on-course instruction to all golfers from beginners to seasoned, low handicap players. Numerous teaching aids are used, including digital video when appropriate. Our golf staff is also trained in the latest professional club-fitting techniques and can match you to the clubs that perfectly fit your swing and style of play.
